VISIT OF OFFICERS OF THE EU IN THE FES SOUK

It seems that the souks of the ancient imperial city of Fes, Morocco, have been subjected to an informal visit by EU officials, sent from Brussels, to check that the current requirements for all open markets in Europe are suited to what occurs in the countries of the close North Africa, with which business relationships are maintained. The diligent officials have, amongst other things, found that:

- “faces of political leaders that are no longer considered EU friends appear on the bulletin board of an unidentified business as a category treated commodity”.

– “a well-known American corporation may require compensation for improper representation on walls of famous literary characters in comic books that fall under the protection of copyright in the possession of the same corporation”.

– “owners of business’ where food is served prior (and not) to cooking do not wear synthetic gloves of the type prescribed in the EU according to directive 2756 paragraph ter et seq.”.

– “the weighing of birds et similia, destined to not always provident housewives, happens with instruments that do not comply with EU regulations that prescribe the quarterly monitoring of the accuracy of the measuring instruments; (Directive 21 987 paragraph quater et seq.); and that physiological adjustments have been noted, conditioned by misuse of arms and hands, by detection officers that cause extra stress on the plate of the scales”.

– “in spite of what happens in the EU countries, for workers transporting goods, it is permitted to consume meals even in places that have not been expressly authorized for this task by the respective health authorities”.
